The Tesla (TSLA) owners and enthusiast community is one of the most vibrant and active set of people on the internet.
As we reported earlier today, the automaker has started a wider rollout of the FSD v12.5.1.1 (2024.21.5) update for HW4 vehicles only. HW3 cars still need to wait to get FSD 12.5 and its subversion releases.
We all know that Tesla owners hurry as much as possible to share their experience with the latest version of Full Self-Driving (FSD Supervised). The level of enthusiasm isn’t any less with version 12.5.1.1.
Prominent Tesla owners shared their first impressions of the FSD v12.5.1.1 release. Overall, most of the reviews are trending towards positive. As Tesla FSD is still in beta phase with a large number of testers, the system is not perfect or fully autonomous yet. However, the automaker has achieved much more success this year.

Roundabouts
Roundabouts have always been a challenge for Tesla Autopilot/FSD. With the introduction of FSD v12, Tesla seriously started to solve the roundabout issue. In v12.2.1, Tesla significantly improved the performance of FSD at roundabouts but it hasn’t been perfect.
In the discussion thread of the following video at X (Twitter), other Tesla owners testing on older versions report issues with roundabouts. However, Chris what Chris (@DirtyTesla) has demonstrated (two multi-lane roundabouts in a row on FSD v12.5.1.1), is nothing short of amazing.
Chuck Cook’s UPL, U-turns, and Difficult Intersections
“This is a very good branch. I will say it’s better than 12.3.6 that most people are stuck on right now,” Chuck said in his first impressions drive of FSD v12.5.1.1. “It is very smooth, it’s making good decisions, it’s not perfect though. It is kind of getting in the wrong lane occasionally,” he added.
In addition to his usual unprotected left turn (UPL) in Jacksonville, Florida, Chuck tested FSD v12.5.1.1 on other complex intersections and performed U-turns as well.
After completing 2 UPL tests, Chuck took his Tesla car to the nearby fire station intersection that has a couple of weird stop signs and turns. This intersection is a good location to train Tesla FSD/Autopilot to take complex intersections.
