Tesla FSD makes a mind-blowing move seeing an oncoming emergency vehicle (video)

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) self-driving system is still in development and Tesla car owners publicly report its performance and experience on social media and YouTube.

This helps in gauging how far FSD has come in terms of safe driving and how it senses other vehicles, people, and objects around it.

Just a few days ago, a Tesla owner shared the dashcam footage of his vehicle’s behavior driving on FSD to an oncoming emergency vehicle. It was very interesting to watch the response of Pete’s Tesla giving way to the oncoming fire truck (fire engine).

“FSD sees Emergency vehicle approaching and pulls over to the side of the road. Then resumes after it’s clear,” the Tesla owner wrote on X (Twitter).

It’s clear from the video that the firefighting truck was headed for an emergency response location as all of its emergency lights were flashing and it was in a hurry.

Interestingly, Tesla FSD identified the fire truck as an emergency vehicle using Tesla Vision AI. It just didn’t identify it as an emergency vehicle, the car also saw its size and pulled over in anticipation to the side of the road to make enough space for it — just in case it needed to maneuver.

Pete’s Tesla was driven by FSD v12.5.4.1 at the time of this video recording. This behavior of the Tesla vehicle in response to an oncoming emergency vehicle went viral on X (Twitter) and as of this writing, the video has received more than 227,000 views.

The exciting thing watching this mind-blowing FSD behavior is; if FSD v12 is able to respond to such traffic scenarios in this way, we can be assured that the upcoming FSD v13 will be much better than this.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the head of Tesla AI Ashok Elluswamy have stated that FSD v13 will be exponentially better and safer compared to the previous versions of the company’s self-driving software.
