Tesla HW4 vehicles are still waiting for the Holiday Update and FSD v13 wide release

We’re getting closer and closer to the Christmas holidays with each passing day. Last week, Tesla (TSLA) released the Holiday Update 2024 only for the older Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles only.

This means that the owners of the newer HW4 vehicles (Model 3, S, X, Y, and Cybertruck) did not receive the Holiday Update in ther first round of the rollout. Not only the Holiday Update, the highly anticipated FSD v13 is also pending a wide release.

The majority of Tesla Community believes that the automaker’s software and AI development teams are working day and night to deploy these updates to the waiting customers.

This year’s Tesla Holiday Update is packed with new features and improvements to existing ones (Release Notes here). The automaker finally added the Apple Watch app that performs basic functions like unlocking the car, trunk, and frunk, etc.

Unfortunately, owners of Hardware 4 computer cars haven’t received the Holiday Update with all the new features. According to report by @TeslaScope, Tesla software teams are working day and night and even on the weekends to get an update out to the HW4 cars.

The reason for the Holiday Update 2024 delay is merging a point release of the Holiday Update (2024.44.25) and FSD v13 in a single bundle. This will allow Tesla to push both of these updates to HW4 vehicles in a single wide rollout.

Tesla rolled out a limited release of its FSD v13 (Supervised) update earlier this month. The tech automaker deployed FSD version 13.2 to the early access non-employees. Tesla officially announced that FSD v13.3 will be the exact point release to go wide release.

The results of FSD v13.2 tests by early access beta testers have been amazing so far. However, Tesla has been reluctant to push it to a wider user base. The only reason might be combining the FSD v13.3 branch to the Holiday Update branch. This will synchronize both updates for the Full Self-Driving package owners and monthly subscribers.

Tesla hasn’t started the deployment of FSD v13.3 (wide release) yet but the automaker has started pushing a new point release to early access group. Just a few hours ago, Chuck Cook received FSD v13.2.1 on his HW4 Tesla Model Y and his Cybertruck with firmware version 2024.39.15.

The majority of Tesla’s global fleet is HW3 cars. However, in the last two years, Tesla has roughly produced around 2 million HW4 cars. So, a large number of Tesla owners are waitiing for this year’s Holiday Update globally.
