Tesla (TSLA) started rolling out the Cybertruck FSD v13.2.4 (2024.45.25.15) last week. However, our updates were missing on this matter because of the Flight 7 Starship launch.

Tesla YouTuber and FSD beta tester Chuck Cook received the FSD v13.2.4 update on his Cybertruck. The release notes of this update are the same as FSD v13.2.2. Chuck also previously tested FSD v13.2.2 on his Cybertruck for vulnerable road users (VRUs).

With the new version, Chuck posted a video showing the Cybertruck doing different challenges like unprotected left turns (UPLs), auto park, U-turns, handling green lights, long-distance driving on highways (jump to watch video below).

Unprotect Left Turn (UPL)

Chuck took his Cybertruck to his famous UPL in JAX named after him in the Tesla FSD release notes. This is a pretty complex UPL with traffic coming from the left and the vehicle has to stop in the median keeping an eye on the traffic coming from the right.

The larger length and width of the Cybertruck compared to other Tesla vehicles makes it more challenging for Tesla FSD neural net AI vision to handle such scenarios. Tesla employees are constantly spotted at this UPL training the FSD AI to enable it for similar turns.

Chuck took his Cybertruck to this UPL on a Sunday morning with a low traffic situation. However, the first attempt was not very good as the Cybertruck running on FSD v13.2.4 accelerated toward the median when a car approaching from the left was not at a very safe distance. The other car had to stop in this situation. Although discomforting, Chuck said it was not dangerous.

U-Turns on Cybertruck FSD v13.2.4

Until FSD v11, U-turns were a difficult challenge for Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta now called FSD (Supervised). With time, Tesla improved U-turns in V12 throughout the year 2024. Now it’s time to test this scenario in FSD v13 and Chuck has done it on his Cybertruck.

The first U-turn Chuck took on his Cybertruck with FSD v13.2.4 was not encouraging. The sub-par U-turn and UPL performance of FSD on Cybertruck might be due to the pickup truck’s large size compared to other Teslas. Tesla Vision will adjust to it in future updates for sure.

Cybertruck took the U-turn rather slowly when it had to hurry and look for a bailout in this scenario. Chuck acknowledged that the Cybertruck FSD v13 does not show the same level of confidence as his HW4/AI4 Tesla Model Y.

Stopping for Cross Traffic at Green Light (false positive)

An interesting scenario emerged when Chuck’s Cybertruck driven by FSD v13.2.4 stopped at a red light. It was fine until the signal turned green. There were two cars on both sides of this intersection in a stopped state as their signal was red.

Cybertruck started to move forward a bit at first but paused shortly thereafter. The truck was anticipating the cross traffic despite the green signal for a few moments. The Cybertruck FSD v13.2.4 thought it didn’t have the right-of-way.

Chuck Cook immediately reported this false positive to the Tesla AI team by pressing the feedback button on the screen. Chuck’s Cybertruck is driving on FSD v13 Standard mode.

Parking Challenges

According to Chuck Cook’s testing, the Auto Park and Unpark on Cybertruck FSD v13.2.4 is the same as the previous version (v13.2.2).

Tesla Cybertruck on this FSD build is too cautious right now. It became very slow and cautious as another vehicle entered the parking lot in the first challenge (video below). HW4/AI4 Model 3/Y handles self-park and unpark scenarios better than the Cybertruck in FSD v13 till now.

In the 2nd challenge, the Cybertruck pulled over to the side of the road in a parking spot. However, it didn’t park straight in a spot, it parked itself diagonally crossing two parking spots.

Planner and Five-Point Intersections

In a scenario where the Tesla route planner showed taking a longer path with a traffic circle to take back the road. This was one of the old five-point intersections in Florida that have never been converted to roundabouts or circles.

However, the Cybertruck turned left despite the planner showing a longer path on the on-screen navigation overwriting the planner’s route and deciding to take a short route using artificial intelligence (AI).

Let’s watch the video that shows Chuck’s Cybertruck testing FSD v13.2.4 in various scenarios and going for different challenges.
