Vehicle teardown expert Sandy Munro had a close encounter with the 2021 Tesla Model 3 on one of his recent road trips to the Rocky Mountains. With the improvements in the car’s overall build quality, consistent panel gaps, and a perfect paint job, he says, he was very impressed.

According to Munro’s experience, in terms of build quality, the latest iteration of the Tesla Model 3 is as good as any car coming from a European car manufacturer like BMW, Audi, or Mercedes.

Perfect gaps and spectacular paint job. I was very impressed. That car was as good as anything you could find out of Europe

When Munro did a complete teardown of the Tesla Model 3 in 2018, he was very disappointed with the panel gaps and the not-so-good paint job among other quality issues. But with his teardown video review of the Tesla Model Y last year, he felt that Tesla is weeding out the various quality issues.

Not just that but Tesla is on a roll of implementing the continuous improvement Deming Cycle at its manufacturing facilities around the globe. The improvements have now transitioned to the 2021 Tesla Model 3, this factor alone would be a motivating factor for many existing and potential owners to get the latest Model 3.

Sandy Munro has also started a teardown video series of the 2021 Tesla Model 3 that we will be featuring here from time to time. His new findings will surely help the Tesla Community and the entire automotive industry how Tesla is shaping the future of mobility.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that a company can only thrive if it is constantly innovating and he has demonstrated this in both Tesla and SpaceX design and engineering through the years. The only weak link remaining at Tesla is its customer service that the automaker is trying to fix by offering new specialized jobs in this area.

  1. I like how you left out the fact that he butchered the panels of the 2021 Model 3 he is doing a teardown of and only mentioned the one he made passing comments of. I know this is a tesla site but at least be honest and not misleading. And no I’m not a hater. Have a Model 3 performance on the order I’m excited to get hopefully here in 3 weeks.

    • I don’t disagree that some customers are facing quality issues in their 2021 Model 3s built at the same factory. Tesla still needs to improve.
