Tesla (TSLA) sent a large wave of FSD v12.5.2.1 (2024.27.10) to vehicle owners. This update was first observed around 10 days ago.

The automaker started a slow rollout of the FSD v12.5.2.1 update on Sat 14th September. However, after the weekend, Monday 16th September saw a small increase in the rollout.

Data from Tesla software tracking websites TeslaFi.com and TeslaScope.com suggests a surge in FSD v12.5.2.1 (2024.27.10) installations since last week. As of this writing, around 7% of the Tesla fleet registered with both websites has received the FSD 12.5.2.1 update.

Tesla retail investor and close social media aide to Elon Musk, Whole Mars Catalog (Omar) first hinted the wide rollout of FSD 12.5 (v12.5.2.1) in the video title above.

After the video was posted on YouTube, Tesla increased the number of users of the FSD v12.5.2.1 update significantly. The largest wave went out on Thursday and Friday to more than 400 Tesla owners per day. The rollout has again slowed down since then with 50-100 installations per day on average.

As of this writing, 1,356 out of 20,036 data-contributing Tesla vehicles on TeslaFi.com have installed the FSD v12.5.2.1 (2024.27.10) software update while 726 are still pending. This means that another large batch of Tesla owners will get FSD 12.5 this week.

FSD 12.5 has still a long way to go before it truly becomes the norm like the FSD v12.3.6 update which is still the most widely installed FSD software update on Tesla vehicles as of today.

According to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving feature-release roadmap, the automaker aims to bring improvements to FSD 12.5 and bring it to Hardware 3 (HW3/AI3) vehicles and the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck FSD milestone is still pending and we have entered the last week of September.

There has been a very limited rollout of FSD v12.5.3 although it first appeared for external beta testers earlier this month. Looks like Tesla is sticking to FSD v12.5.2.1 for now and the next versions aren’t going to come quickly before the Robotaxi event.
