Tesla shuffles Model 3 and Model Y prices for the 4th time this year

Tesla is constantly making changes to the prices of the Model 3 and Model Y lineups almost every month since the start of this year. While there have been a few price drops, this most recent shuffle has ended in a price hike for multiple variants of both these cars.

This most recent price increase might be due to the high demand for Tesla vehicles, especially the Model 3 and Model Y EVs.

Tesla has a low inventory at the start of this quarter as in Q1 2021, the automaker sold more cars than it produced, despite no Model S or X production took place the entire quarter.

Update: Tesla has increased the price of the Model 3 and Y again (5th time)

Tesla Model 3

Since we last reported the price changes in March, the price of all the variants of the Tesla Model 3 has been increased by $1,000 each.

Although Tesla had dropped the prices by $500 on the Standard Range Plus and Long Range AWD last month, the car is at its most expensive price point of this year to date.

The price of the Model 3 Performance variant has gone up by $2,000 since the start of this year. The track and drag racing performance of this nimble car must have been a catalyst for its demand.

The latest Model 3 prices in the United States are as follows:

  • Model 3 Standard Range Plus: $38,490
  • Model 3 Long Range AWD: $47,490
  • Model 3 Performance: $56,990

Tesla Model Y

Since Tesla discontinued the most affordable Model Y Standard Range back in February, there are only two variants remain of this mid-sized electric SUV — Long Range AWD and Performance.

The price of the Model Y Performance has remained stable since the start of this year. The Long Range AWD has received a $500 price increase this month, the new prices are as follows:

  • Model Y Long Range AWD: $50,490
  • Model Y Performance: $60,990
