Tesla (TSLA) has shipped around 1,300 Tesla Model Y electric SUVs to Norway as the automaker began deliveries of the car in Europe last week. These Model Ys have been shipped from Gigafactory Shanghai. So, all of these are the Made-in-China (MIC) Model Y Long Range variants.

This massive delivery of the Tesla Model Ys at the Port of Oslo (Oslo Havn) was spotted this past Saturday (Aug 21st). A few videos of the unloading and the fleet standing at the port were posted online (below). Tesla enthusiasts are always on the look for a chance to spot a Tesla activity anywhere in the world.

The car transport vessel unloading Tesla Model Y cars at the Port of Oslo is Glovis Supreme, in the past, Tesla delivered the first Model 3 shipment to Europe on Glovis Captain.

Tesla started the Model Y delivery campaign in Europe last week in a non-traditional way. The US-based automaker pasted stickers on the sides of Model Y showroom cars which read Not Model Y. This meme-theme marketing stunt paid big time and the idea went viral, Model Y got the attention it wanted in the region.

Due to these massive deliveries, the delivery date of the Model Y Long Range in Europe went from late this year to September 2021. Reportedly, the Model 3 and Model Y cars manufactured in China have far better build quality over the ones made at the company’s Fremont, California USA plant.

According to the Tesla Norway registration tracking website Teslastats.no, 20 Tesla Model Y Long Range cars have already been registered in Norway as of today. Of which:

  • Blue: 7
  • Gray: 6
  • White: 3
  • Red: 2
  • Black 2

Seems like Norwegians are liking the blue color on the Model Y more than any other till now but 20 car registration is a very small number to determine this at the moment.

For Model S, Model X, and Model 3, the black color is the top choice of Tesla owners from Norway — this result is derived after looking at the data of 65k+ Teslas spanning a period of 8+ years by teslastats.no.

Another video of the Port of Osla was shot by an Indian YouTuber after the unloading was almost complete. This video is in Hindi language that I can fully understand but for non-Hindi speakers, the visuals are great too.

However, Glovis Supreme is not the only ship full of Model Y and Model 3 cars, there are more ships coming in September. The development of Tesla Model Y factory at Giga Berlin is also in its final stages to deliver the Performance variants of the Y to European customers as early as later this year (as seen in the first-ever video of the inside of Giga Berlin).
