Tesla (TSLA) started rolling out this year’s biggest over-the-air (OTA) software update to its global fleet of millions of vehicles during the weekend.

Tesla owners have been anxiously waiting to download this update since the start of December. However, since this update needs to be rolled out to a large number of vehicles internationally, it will be deployed in batches. Therefore Tesla owners in some regions might get it earlier than the others.

The release notes for the 2023 Tesla Holiday Update stay the same as we reported last week. After the initial set of leaked release notes, Tesla officially revealed more features and games of this software update.

Tesla first released this update to company employee cars for testing, feedback, and bug fixing. The internal Holiday Update firmware version was 2023.44.25. The public release version of the 2023 Tesla Holiday Update is 2023.44.30. There are some subversions of this update as well which are currently rolling out such as 2023.44.30.1, 2023.44.30.2, and 2023.44.30.3.

OTA update versions 2023.44.30.1 and 2023.44.30.2 are rolled out to the FSD Beta testing cars as well.

According to the data gathered by Tesla software tracking websites TeslaScrope.com and TeslaFi.com, the automaker is quickly upgrading existing Tesla cars to the 2023.44.30 and its subversion updates. As of this writing, TeslaFi reports that 2,313 cars have been upgraded to the 2023 Holiday Update.

High Fidelity Bird’s-Eye View Park Assist Videos

The most interesting and awaited feature of this year’s Tesla Holiday Update was the High Fidelity Park Assist. This is a 3D vector-space reconstruction of the vehicle’s environment. It gives a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings which helps reduce blind spots while parking the vehicle in tight spots and crowded places.

Tesla owners who have received this update are posting videos of feedback on their experience with the High Fidelity Park Assist feature on X (Twitter). So far, Tesla owners seem to be happy with this feature and are reporting it has made parking easier for them in difficult scenarios.

Interestingly, the 3D visualization of High Fidelity Park Assist displayed on the center touchscreen can be moved using fingertips. You can easily change the viewing angle and look all around the car using this feature.

It’s not just a static bird’s-eye view, it’s dynamic. However, this dynamic view changer is only available on Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. The visualization is displayed on the instrument cluster of Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles which is not a touchscreen, so it cannot be moved using hand gestures.
