Tesla (TSLA) began the rollout of its latest Full Self-Driving (Supervised) version 12.3.4 (2024.3.15) late last week.

Starting this week, this rollout has started to spread to a wider user base. According to Tesla software tracking data by TeslaFi.com, more than 5,000 Tesla owners have received the FSD (Supervised) v12.3.4 update. This accounts for more than 31% of the cars from the pool of 19,785 data-contributing vehicles. FSD Beta 11.4.9 is still present on more than 43% of Tesla cars.

However, it looks like FSD (Supervised) v12.3.4 will soon take over as the most widely installed version of the self-driving software by Tesla. The automaker also officially confirmed that the update is rolling out now.

“FSD Supervised continues to improve with every over-the-air software update,” Tesla wrote on X (Twitter).

FSD (Supervised) v12.3.4 First Impressions

Aggressive Acceleration Issue

Although FSD (Supervised) v12.3.3 received mostly good reviews from the users, Tesla owners experienced the car accelerating aggressively in different scenarios. This issue was reported by the FSD Beta users in the last couple of weeks but it has not been addressed in the v12.3.4 (2024.3.15) update.

Testers report that this aggressive acceleration issue in FSD (Supervised) v12.3.4 is currently the main reason for most of their disengagement/interventions.

FSD (Supervised) tester Kevin (@teslius) reported this issue on X (Twitter):

Aggressive acceleration/speeding first seen in 12.3.3 is still a thing. It speeds then slows down to go a little over the speed limit. It typically occurs off stoplights and right turns. Drives like an ass when this happens. Still the bulk of my disengagements.

Popular Tesla FSD Beta tester Chuck Cook received the updates a few days ago. He summarized his first impressions on v12.3.4 as:

I will say early impressions are that not much has been really changed. Most of the complaints on the previous version were about the auto speed, not quite being where it needed to be. I have not heard of any major improvements there.

Still some risk around taking tight corners. Possibly putting some risk to your rims so be careful with that and also perhaps a little bit of navigation regression with some map data I’ve heard from other folks.

Other Scenarios

Another tester posted his experience testing v12.3.4 at an intersection yesterday:

Yesterday, FSD was not sure it could proceed thru an intersection without blocking cross traffic due to cars being backed up ahead. So, it waited outside the intersection until it could see that there was room to proceed without blocking the intersection should the light change. Most impressive!

Derek Wang on X also shared his experience with FSD (Supervised) v12.3.4 as he was driving on a highway. According to Derek, his Tesla vehicle attempted an aggressive right exit as it tried to pass the car from the left just 1 mile before the exit.

FSD 12.3.2.1 and 12.3.4 problem on highway: 1 mile to exit on right, FSD still tried to change to left lane to pass the car in front then come back to the right lane. That’s too aggressive. I had to cancel the lane change (not a disengagement thus not sure how to report the problem to Tesla). This happened to a friend and caused him to miss the exit and turned him into an unhappy FSD user.

Two FSD (Supervised) testers experienced that their Tesla vehicles on the latest version 12.3.4 (2024.3.15) are driving near the curb/shoulder on the right side of the road. This issue started in the previous version and still exists after Tesla claimed that this new version has improvements.
