Tesla sends out Robotaxi reveal event invites titled “We, Robot”

“We, Robot” says the tagline of the Tesla (TSLA) Robotaxi unveiling event invite email graphic. The title is a reference to Will Smith’s iconic I, Robot movie. Replacing the ‘I’ with a ‘We’ hints that it’s even bigger than what was shown in the motion picture.

The automaker started sending Robotaxi event invitations to select retail investors, influencers, and Tesla owners yesterday. Tesla has named its robotaxi, the Cybercab after the popularity and polarizing impact of the Cybertruck.

“This will be one for the history books,” Elon Musk posted on X with the Tesla Robotaxi event invite email’s screenshot. Tesla enthusiasts started asking for a spot to be able to attend the historic event at the Warner Bros. Studio Burbank, in Los Angeles, California.

The interesting graphics of the invitation email also has the date and location of the Robotaxi event, i.e. 10th October in Los Angeles (Warner Bros. Studio Burbank). Read the official email in its entirety below.

The round digital eye in the middle of the Tesla Robotaxi invite email has become an interesting discussion topic among the Tesla enthusiast community on social media. Different people have varying opinions about why Tesla added this eye-like digital graphics on the banner instead of a shadow of the Cybercab (Robotaxi) vehicle itself.

Tesla has been very successful in hiding the design of the Robotaxi vehicle platform. For the exterior, we just have a heavily-disguised prototype seen around Warner Bros. Studio or the render from Walter Isaacson’s Elon Musk biography.

The automaker shared a few glimpses of the interior of the Robotaxi Cybercab in an official video earlier this year. But it does not give a clear idea of the vehicle’s overall design.

An opinion on We, Robot graphics that somewhat match the previous Summon feature poster.

The “We, Robot” slogan can also mean that humans and robots have an inclusive future together. We are on the verge of a new era where AI and robots are going to be an indispensable part of our daily lives whether it’s work or home.

Tesla, by luck or karma, is best situated to reap the benefits of the coming era of robotics and artificial general intelligence (AGI). Tesla has a humanoid robot Optimus in development already and an autonomous robotaxi (Tesla Cybercab) is just going to make Tesla (TSLA) even more relevant in the future.

We, Robot might also refer to Tesla’s line of Full Self-Driving (FSD) enabled vehicles, the Tesla Optimus robot, and now Robotaxi. The suspense surrounding the Tesla Robotaxi will untangle on 10th October when Elon Musk finally reveals the product and shares his vision for the product’s future.

With the Cybercab robotaxi, Tesla aims to compete and even disrupt ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft. An autonomous taxi service, human-driven ride-sharing services will become a legacy. Tesla’s recent success with Autopilot (FSD Supervised) and constant training of its neural net puts it in a leadership position in vehicle autonomy in addition to the electric vehicle segment.

Taking cues from the Robotaxi concept render and other images of an early design from Tesla Design Studio, a Tesla enthusiast rendered the above design of the Tesla Robotaxi vehicle. One thing is confirmed that it will be a two-seater smaller Tesla vehicle that is purpose-built to work as a robotaxi.

However, it’s not yet confirmed if Tesla will put the vehicle on sale or just own all of them and keep the entire revenue to themselves. A few years ago, Tesla stated that leased Tesla Model 3 cars would be bought back to work as Tesla Robotaxis but that plan seems to have been shelved in favor of the new vehicle that will be revealed on October 10th.

Stay tuned as we share news and updates leading to one of the most anticipated and potentially disruptive car launch event in the history of the automotive industry.
