Tesla has once again shuffled the prices of its lower-end Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. This is the third time the Austin, TX-based electric automaker has changed its pricing since the start of the new year 2023.
The first change of this year was a significant price drop across Tesla’s entire vehicle lineup last month.
Tesla had shuffled its prices several times throughout last year mainly due to inflation and increased interest rates. Most of these were price hikes instead of drops.
Let’s review the most recent Model Y and Model 3 price changes of February one by one below.
Tesla Model Y New Prices
Tesla Model Y was the one receiving the heaviest price drop last month of up to 20% on different variants. But toward the end of January, Tesla increased the price of the Model Y electric SUV by $500 due to the increased demand, according to Elon Musk’s opening remarks during the Q4 2022 earnings call.
Here’s the list of the new Tesla Model Y prices:
- Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD = $54,990 (previous: $53,450, a 2.8% increase)
- Tesla Model Y Performance = $57,990 (previous: $56,990, a 1.75%increas)

Interestingly, a fully-loaded Tesla Model Y Performance with the $15,000 Full Self-Driving (FSD) Capability software can still qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit.
A Tesla Model Y with FSD, white interior, premium paint option, and tow hitch still costs $76,990 which falls under the tax credit cap of $80,000 for the Model Y (more details on the Tesla support website).
Tesla Model 3 New Prices
The most affordable Tesla car, the Tesla Model 3 became even cheaper with the latest price drop of $500. The new price of the base variant of the Tesla Model 3 compact electric sedan is now $43,490.
Here are the new prices of Tesla Model 3 with older ones in the brackets for comparison:
- Tesla Model 3 RWD = $43,490 (previous: $43,990, a 1.1% drop)
- Tesla Model 3 Performance = $53,990 (unchanged)
