Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen was spotted with the Cybertruck on Sunday. He was seen leaving the Petersen Automotive Museum with his family in the Cybertruck.

He was invited at the Petersen Musuem as the chief guest for the inaugural of the Electrified Cars & Coffee event.

As soon as Franz opened the doors of the Cybertruck for his kids and himself — the mystery of opening the Cybertruck doors was solved. Looking closely at the video, we can see that Franz presses a button on the C-pillar quarter window to open the door for the kids.

And when he opens the front driver’s door of the Cybertruck, he presses a similar butt but the cameraman wasn’t able to capture it because of visual obstruction.

However, as soon as the truck accelerates, we can see a similar large button on the B-pillar as well. This button is pressed to open the front door (see screenshot below).

The Cybertruck prototype that Elon Musk showed at the unveiling in 2019 had door handles. Tesla kept this design decision for a while and early prototypes were seen with the door handles as well.

But later on, as Tesla started to refine the design of the Cybertruck, the automaker decided to remove the door handles completely. Personally, I like this decision, the unification of the doors with the rest of the hexagonal body gives the Cybertruck a design symmetry.

As Franz prepares to drive off the Petersen Museum parking, he rolls down the driver-side front window completely down. This confirms that the front windows of the Tesla Cybertruck roll down.

Because these are close-to-production alpha prototypes, production Cybertrucks will have most of these design elements present in them.

In another instance, some Tesla enthusiasts present at the Petersen Museum were able to take photos of the interior as well. The following tweet from Greggertruck shows the front seat row, steering, touchscreen display, and dashboard in fine detail.

Greggertruck asked tagged Elon Musk to ask if the Cybertruck has its own center display UI. Although Musk did not answer his question, we saw glimpses of the Cybertruck screen user interface about two years ago.

The Cybertruck UI got leaked when Tesla’s ex UI Design lead posted these designs on his company website. So, we can expect a different Cybertruck-themed UI for the unconventional electric pickup truck.
