Watch Tesla Model S vs. Lamborghini Huracán Performante drag race

Teslas have become popular in the drag racing world because with their instant acceleration and ultra-fast 0-60 times they usually take on more powerful opponents and rise as winners at the finish line.

This time another polluting monster from the internal combustion engine (ICE) world has challenged a 2020 Tesla Model S Performance Raven to the dragstrip. Yes, a Lamborghini Huracán Performante with a 5.2-liter V10 engine with gazillion tons of CO2 emissions a year.

With Cheetah Stance and the latest software updates, the Tesla Model S Performance is the world’s quickest off-the-line car with a phenomenal 0-60 mph time of just 2.3 seconds. However, the Lambo Huracan Performante is almost 1,500 lbs (686 KG) lighter than the Model S Performance, thus can go from 0-60 in only 2.6 seconds.

If we look at the price tag of both vehicles (see Table 1.0 below), 3 Model S Performance sedans can be bought for 1 Huracan Performante. But people with that kind of money aren’t looking for day to day convenience, they’re looking for fun and some sporty action.

Before jumping on to the video, let’s get a brief look at the performance specs comparison of both superstars from the EV and ICE realms.

In the quarter-mile attempt, the Model S Performance took the off the line quicker than the Lambo but the Huracan caught it halfway through the dragstrip. With a significantly higher top-speed, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante won the race with a clear difference.

To further tame down these big boys once and for all, Tesla is bringing the Model S Plaid to the production line next year with a 0-60 time of under 2 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph.

The remaining giants of the ICE world will be slain by the Next-gen Tesla Roadster’s 1.1-sec acceleration boost via SpaceX Rocket Thrusters.
