Tesla (TSLA) is rapidly increasing its Cybercab footprint in Texas. In the last few days, the number of Cybercabs registered for autonomous ride-hailing services in Texas has almost tripled.
As of this writing (September 26, 2026), Tesla has registered 546 Model Y Robotaxis and Cybercabs in Texas combined. This increase hints at the automaker’s confidence in its Unsupervised Full Self-Driving system, at least in a large geofenced area.
The breakdown of operating Model Y Robotaxis and Cybercabs in Texas is interesting. Currently, 420 Model Y Robotaxis and 126 Cybercabs are registered in Texas.
420 is an iconic number in Tesla’s history. It refers to Elon Musk’s historic “taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured” tweet. It led to lawsuits, and the SEC forced Musk to step down as Tesla chairman.
In an interesting turn of events, the SEC settlement ultimately made Musk a whopping $ 65 million in 2020. Tesla fans are using the 420 Robotaxi registrations in Texas to troll Tesla critics.
On Thursday, September 24, the Cybercab registration reached 69 vehicles. This number also spiked trolling at the anti-Tesla crowd on X.
The automaker quickly moved past that number and now has 126 Cybercabs registered in Texas. Most of the operating fleet works in Austin, which has the largest geofenced area for Tesla’s autonomous ride-hailing service.
A large number of Cybercabs have recently been spotted in Houston, which hints at an expansion of the small geofence and the launch of the Cybercab in Houston soon.

Tesla is producing Cybercabs and Model Y Robotaxis at Giga Texas. Its proximity to the City of Austin makes it easier for the automaker to deploy the fleet in the City and other cities across the Lone Star State.
