Tesla’s next major over-the-air (OTA) software update version 2024.26 has reportedly been released to the company’s employees for early testing of the features.
This new update brings a ton of new features for Tesla owners to enjoy. After the Spring Update (2024.14), 2024.26 is the 2nd major feature-packed software update Tesla is preparing to roll out to its global fleet of cars. Some features are unavailable in some regions because of relevancy and regulatory issues.
The most interesting and entertaining features Tesla has introduced in the 2024.26 update is the addition of the YouTube Music and Amazon Music apps. Both of these music streaming services offer more than 100 million songs and music tracks to their audience. As a premium YouTube Music subscriber, I can relate to the joy of Tesla owners who were anxiously waiting for this app to be available to them during their road trips.
Considering the number of new and enhanced features in the 2024.26 update, Tesla owners are suggesting for it to be called the “Summer Update”.
Another interesting feature added in the 2024.26 update is the ability to get weather updates in the area where the Tesla is currently driving. In addition to the local weather and outside temperature, Tesla owners will now be able to check the air quality index (AQI) of the area they’re driving in (details in release notes below).
Tesla has also redesigned the Climate panel UI to ease the use of settings.
Tesla has also updated its navigation maps in the upcoming software update version 2024.26. Tesla vehicle drivers will be able to select a sub-destination of their main destination like a specific terminal at a Supercharger.
Tesla has also upgraded the Zoom meeting app in the 2024.26 update. Now the Zoom meetings will be full screen by default while the vehicle is in Park.
Tesla reduced HVAC cabin noise in the 2024.20 update. The automaker took this function a little further in the upcoming 2024.26 update. Tesla fan speed will automatically lower itself during a phone call to reduce ambient noise.
One of the most useful features in the 2024.26 update is Parental Controls. Now parents can set the max speed and drive mode to Chill. The Parental Controls feature also allows customizing the critical safety modes for drivers their parents consider needing additional safety measures (details below).
One of the best advantages of owning a Tesla vehicle is that it keeps improving with free OTA software updates. Tesla is always able to add new features and tweak existing ones to its entire global fleet of more than 5 million vehicles.

YouTube Music

Parental Controls
You can now enable Parental Controls with a PIN on your vehicle. Set a maximum speed limit and limit acceleration to Chill. Turn on safety features, such as Speed Limit Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Warning. Configure Night Curfew to receive notifications through your Tesla mobile app when the vehicle is driven past curfew.
Enable Parental Controls from the vehicle or the Tesla mobile app. Navigate to Controls > Safety > Parental Controls. Follow the instructions on screen and provide a PIN. Drivers can’t disable the controls or change the settings without re-entering the PIN.
Weather Forecast and Air Quality
Your vehicle status bar now shows the local weather conditions alongside the temperature. When air quality is poor, your vehicle also shows an AQI symbol and index value.
Tap the temperature on your touchscreen to see details about your local weather forecast, such as the weather condition, highs and lows of the day, and the chance of rain. Requires Premium Connectivity.
Navigate to Sub-Destinations
Now when you enter a navigation destination you can select a sub-destination (such as a specific terminal at the airport) to get more accurate routing details.
Schedule Charge and Preconditioning
From the redesigned menu or the Tesla mobile app, schedule charging or preconditioning for your vehicle. You can select a location, schedule a one-off, repeat specific times or days of the week, and also control when charging starts and stops.
To schedule your charge and precondition, tap Controls > Schedule.
Security Improvements
This update includes important security fixes and improvements.
