Watch how Tesla Model X Plaid electric SUV defeats a highly modified Porsche 992 Turbo S Coupe on a dragstrip

You might be wondering — what business a luxury family SUV has on a dragstrip, especially against a significantly smaller Porsche sports car. But actually, the Porsche 992 Turbo S has a score to settle, and the Tesla Model X Plaid welcomes it with an open heart.

In a previous attempt, Tesla Model X Plaid won a drag race over this Porsche 992 Turbo S Coupe with a low state of charge (SoC) and 6 people sitting inside. However, at the time, the Porsche was completely stock with ~641 hp of power against Model X’s 1,020 hp.

Now the Porsche 992 Turbo S has returned to regain its honor. And this time, the Porsche is loaded with some tuner modifications under the hood turning it into a 1,000+ hp ICE beast.

These new modifications and tuning give the nimble Porsche some extreme powers like a 0-60 mph time of around 2.5 seconds (can be seen in Dragy calculations during the drag racing video below).

While the Porsche 992 Turbo S engine is amped-up for more than 1,000 hp, the actual power delivered to the wheels is around 910 whp (wheel horsepower).

Tesla Model X on the other hand is completely stock. But this time, there is only one passenger in the car instead of 6 — and it’s charged to 94% SoC. However, both the Plaid Model X and Model S can deliver consistent launches even at low SoC.

Being a large electric SUV, Tesla Model X Plaid is around 37% heavier compared to this modified Porsche 992 Turbo S Coupe. A fair disadvantage in a straight line 1/4 mile drag race. But Tesla’s engineering precision and raw power of the battery pack delivered to the motors make up for that.

With all those modifications, Porsche 992 Turbo S also costs more than double the price of a Tesla Model X Plaid. But still, the Model X Plaid wins this race.

Let’s take a look at some performance specs and price comparisons between the two opponents in the following table before enjoying the video. Do post your expressions in the comments section below.
